About the Journal
Journal of University Community Engagement (JUCE) is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal published by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. The journal is dedicated to advancing scholarly discussions on university–community engagement, with a particular focus on how higher education institutions contribute to social transformation through community-based initiatives.
JUCE emphasizes the development of community engagement and service learning as academic fields of inquiry. It encourages interdisciplinary, participatory, and evidence-based approaches that integrate theory, methodology, and practice. Published articles are expected to go beyond descriptive accounts of community service activities by offering critical analysis, conceptual reflection, and systematic evaluation of social impact, thereby positioning communities not merely as beneficiaries but as active partners in knowledge production.
JUCE welcomes contributions in the form of community-based applied research, service-learning studies, evaluative and impact-oriented research, and well-documented best practices that demonstrate both academic rigor and practical relevance. The journal is published biannually (June and December) and accepts manuscripts in English and Indonesian. All submissions undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure originality, scholarly quality, and meaningful contributions to the international discourse on university-driven community engagement.
